Our Mission
The Canadian Teacher exists for one fundamental purpose: to support and empower educators across Canada. For over two decades, we’ve been committed to making high-quality, freely accessible teaching resources available to the educators who shape our nation’s classrooms. We believe that great teaching begins with the right tools, and every Canadian teacher—regardless of budget or location—deserves access to the resources they need to inspire their students.
Our mission is simple but powerful: connect Canadian educators with the practical resources, tools, and inspiration that transform teaching practice and enhance student learning outcomes.
Our Story
Founded in 2001 by a passionate Ontario educator, The Canadian Teacher emerged from a fundamental belief that teachers shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel or spend their limited time searching across countless websites for quality, curriculum-aligned resources. What began as a small resource collection has grown into one of Canada’s most trusted teaching repositories, serving tens of thousands of educators across provinces and territories.
Over more than two decades, we’ve watched education evolve. We’ve seen technological shifts transform classrooms, witnessed the rise of diverse teaching methodologies, and observed the growing demands on teachers’ time and energy. Throughout these changes, our core commitment has remained unwavering: educators deserve better support, and students deserve teachers who have the resources to do their best work.
Today, The Canadian Teacher is a living, evolving platform that reflects the real needs of Canada’s teaching community. We’ve modernized our systems, expanded our resource library, and deepened our commitment to serving educators at every career stage—from newly certified teachers finding their footing to experienced educators seeking fresh approaches.

Our community is built on the principle that teachers know what teachers need. Whether it’s a lesson plan template, assessment tools, classroom management strategies, or professional development resources, everything on our platform has been developed with Canadian classrooms in mind. Why We Do This
At heart, The Canadian Teacher is built on a simple recognition: teachers are essential. They shape not just academic achievement, but character, resilience, creativity, and citizenship. They work with limited resources, often spending their own money on classroom materials. They carry emotional weight that extends far beyond their job description. They deserve support.
For more than 20 years, we’ve been honored to provide that support, and we’re committed to deepening that mission for decades to come. Every resource we develop, every tool we refine, and every educator we serve reflects our conviction that when teachers thrive, students thrive, and Canadian education is strengthened.
Thank you for being part of The Canadian Teacher community. Whether you’re here to find a lesson plan, share your expertise, or simply connect with other educators who understand the privilege and challenge of teaching, you’re part of something meaningful.
